The Wayne State University Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences is currently accepting applications for the Masters in Public Health (MPH) Program Director.  This position is a key leader within the department continuing the legacy that began in the School of Medicine in 1913 where some of the earliest MPH degrees were awarded in the state. In 2004 the Wayne State University Board of governors established our current MPH Program, and we have more than 200 graduates from our Master of Public Health and Graduate Certificate in Public Health Practice Programs. The Masters in Public Health program is committed to improving the health and vitality of the metropolitan Detroit area and beyond.  Our MPH degree prepares students for successful careers in public health practice and research in the community, government and private sector.  Our students develop skills in grantsmanship, program evaluation and planning, leadership and team management, and policy advocacy and analysis that are valuable in a variety of career paths. Responsibilities for this position include: ·       Assume faculty leadership and provide mentoring and support for program faculty and staff development. ·       Demonstrate commitment to excellence in student teaching and learning. ·       Lead and manage the accreditation process for the MPH program and maintain accreditation with CEPH. ·       Develop and implement curricula. ·       Work collaboratively with university partners in creating an effective learning environment. ·       Prepare and oversee the annual budget. ·       Schedule classes and assign faculty. ·       Teach courses in public health. ·       Assess curricula and faculty. ·       Manage and coordinate the activities that support student recruitment, admission, and retention ·       Engage in scholarly activity appropriate to the discipline such as publishing, presenting at national, regional, and local conferences, conducting research and/or grant writing and related activities. ·       Perform all roles and responsibilities associated with a full-time faculty appointment, including teaching, scholarship and service to the Department, School and Institution. ·       Participate in other duties as assigned.   Qualifications for this position include: ·       An MPH and earned doctorate in public health or in a related field. ·       Required qualifications and hands on experience with the review process, documentations and self-study preparations and experience with CEPH accreditation -- with evidence of success. ·       Experience with program assessment and evaluation. ·       Three years college or university experience teaching Public Health. ·       Record of excellent administrative/organizational experience and abilities. ·       A broad understanding of the field of public health. ·       Preference will be given to applicants with an expertise in epidemiology or health policy. ·       Outstanding oral and written communication skills. ·       Evidence of innovation, leadership, and application of best practices in public health education as well as contributions to the field through scholarship, grant writing, program review participation. ·       Experience launching, leading, or participating in graduate programs preferred ·       Teaching experience in an online environment.
