Full position title: Assistant/ Associate Professor and Director of Communication and Media Studies Program
 
Responsibilities:

The Program Director will contribute to a collaborative leadership approach that will integrate Jefferson’s unique institutional position and strengths into program curriculum and experiences. Responsibilities will include scholarship and/or practice, teaching, career and internship advising for students in the program, and some recruiting and marketing work in coordination with others in the college and university. The successful candidate should possess an established record of scholarship and/or practice within communication, journalism and/or media studies (specialty areas open) with the potential for growth in the future. The successful candidate will join existing faculty in the major and related majors within the College of Science and Humanities, and will engage in collaborative efforts to support the program and its special areas of focus in sports and health communication, fashion journalism, and advocacy.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Ph.D. in communication, media studies or related area for tenure track; terminal degree in communication or closely related field, or its equivalent in training, ability, or experience for practice scholar track.

Credentials consistent with a tenure track or practice scholar appointment. Mastery of concepts in communication/media studies and media practices and technology. Applicants should possess an established record of scholarship and/or practice within communication, journalism and/or media studies with the potential for growth in the future. Ability to teach media skills (writing/audio/video) required. Experience teaching at a University level in media, communication is desirable, as is professional experience in journalism and media. Applicants must be collaborative and open to creating synergies across disciplinary areas.
