Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Writer
in the Office of Integrated Marketing. Primary Job Duties:
Writes and edits content (for print and digital platforms) that is consistent with the University's goals, brand and messaging. Tells SU's stories in ways that connect readers with the University in the most positive light, and increase the awareness and reputation of the educational experience. Works collaboratively to develop creative and innovative content for a variety of communications platforms for internal and external audiences, and repurpose content from a variety of sources for multi-platform distribution. Contextualizes content provided by campus contributors to ensure accuracy, stylistic consistency, logical organization and emphasis, and suitability for both the intended audience and various platforms. Creates and implements strategic timelines for online content. Ensures that web content is tailored to targeted audiences and optimized for Google and other internet search engines. Works in partnership with University marketing team, editor, graphic designers, Web Office staff, web content contributors and digital/print production staff to coordinate print and digital priorities. Provides editorial guidance to campus community members responsible for generating content. Networks to establish strong links with staff and faculty to understand communication needs and to develop, edit and maintain their content in a manner that supports the University's strategic initiatives. Develops, writes and edits feature and spotlight stories. Identifies and effectively promotes organization services, projects, events, classes and other newsworthy information through print and digital outlets (including social media). Selects, plans and coordinates the production or editing of digital assets, including images and video that will accompany online content. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communication, Marketing, English, Journalism or related degree program and 5-7 years related experience required. Experience with producing content for online and integrated marketing campaigns required.
Demonstrated experiences in translating big ideas to actionable items. Strong time and project management skills and comfort with multiple deadlines required. Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral & written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with MS Office Suite and content management systems and experience with Google Analytics to assess performance of web pages required.
This is a full-time, exempt State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
