The mission of University Student Health Services is to provide quality outpatient medical care and public health services, which includes health education programming that empowers students to become full participants in their health care. The Staff Physician will support this mission by providing direct patient care to the diverse patient population in the primary care clinics of University Student Health Services. Additionally they will provide teaching and supervision of rotating house staff.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The Staff Physician will provide direct patient care in clinics on both the MCV and
Monroe Park campuses. The Staff Physician will review and cosign medical records of patients seen by midlevel practitioners and resident physicians. They will participate in chart review and Continuous Quality Improvement activities. The Staff Physician will share after-hours on-call rotation responsibilities with other USHS clinicians.
Administratively, the Staff Physician will report to the Director of University Student Health Services. They will be expected to perform administrative duties on one or more committees of University Student Health Services and will attend USHS staff and committee meetings. The Staff Physician will maintain a collaborative working relationship with other University personnel on both the Health Sciences and Monroe Park campuses.
Teaching responsibilities of the Staff Physician will include supervision of the clinical activities of the residents and students of the Medical College of Virginia who rotate through University Student Health Services.
The Staff Physician will participate in clinical research projects which are approved through the committee structure of University Student Health Services.
