Essential Functions

Develop standard operating procedures and guidelines. Hire, train, and evaluate student employees, fitness instructors, personal trainers. Actively pursue revenue-generating wellness programs. Facilitate programming that aligns with the dimensions of wellness. Collaborate with campus partners and compile a calendar of wellness events during the academic year. Serve as the Campus Recreation lead for student wellness initiatives. Establish a wellness coaching program for students that focuses on creating healthy lifestyles. Oversee personal training services. Lead the development and administration of group fitness programs. Coordinate the implementation of children's camps, swim lessons, health fairs, massage therapy, etc. Conduct program assessments. Develop an intentional marketing and communication strategy that engages students and members. Evaluate equipment and facility for safety. Establish and maintain a comprehensive risk management plan. Responsible for monthly payroll. Provide expert on-site supervision of staff. Complete inventory of fitness-related equipment. Work with the Associate Director to oversee repair & replacement plans for fitness equipment. Monitor annual facility maintenance needs fitness studios, cardio, and weight room. Some weekends and evenings as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. in EXPW or related field from an accredited institution. Two (2) years of administrative and supervisory experience in the field of health, wellness, and recreation. Experience in scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff. Ability to establish and manage fitness and wellness programming. Knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and wellness concepts. Ability to develop a budget and generate supporting revenue. Experience working with child/youth camp programs. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

Preferred Qualifications

M.A. in EXPW or related field from an accredited institution. Current certifications from a nationally recognized program such as AFAA, ACSM, or ACE in the following: Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor. Experience with Connect2, scheduling software, Innosoft Fusion.

Commensurate with education and experience.
