A 9-month tenure-track appointment in Spatial Technology. Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in Spatial Technology with the incorporation of GIS/GPS based precision technology into classes; participate in curriculum development; recruit and advise students; supervise student internships and theses. Participate in School, College, University and community activities including public and private organizations; opportunities exist for collaboration with crop producers and faculty in the TTU College of Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences, USDA, and NRCS. Conduct research/scholarly activities in successful candidate's area of expertise; successful applicants are expected to publish research results in professional journals and extend results to learned forums and industry.
An earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Biosystems Engineering, Biosystems Engineering Technology, Agricultural Systems Management or related field with a specialization in Precision Agriculture. Ability to deliver courses via distance/online learning platforms as needed.
Documented evidence of individual and/or collaborative research and teaching in precision ag technologies, and related topics resulting in peer reviewed publications. Evidence of a strong verbal and written command of the English language. Demonstrated potential for quality research/scholarly activity/external funding acquisition. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Demonstrated ability to facilitate experiential learning. Demonstrated ability to conduct program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other academic programs, groups, stakeholders, and agencies. Demonstrated ability to provide effective academic and career advising.
Compensation and Benefits
Commensurate with education and experience. Full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position to begin August 1, 2022.
Tennessee Tech offers a competitive benefit packages. Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
