The Department of Political Science at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2020. Qualifications
The department seeks candidates in the subfield of comparative politics, with a specialization in East Asia, a substantive focus on Chinese politics, and the ability to teach a course in Japanese politics. The successful candidate will be able to teach the department's introductory comparative government course, upper-level courses in his or her specialty, and contribute to the department's methods requirement. The successful candidate should have a commitment to teaching in a liberal arts tradition and show evidence of scholarly engagement.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and scholarship will contribute to the department's commitment to diversity and academic excellence. As part of the cover letter or teaching statement, we invite you to elaborate on your cultural proficiencies and experiences engaging an increasingly diverse student body.
The College welcomes the candidate to join a group of East Asianists who are currently housed in eight academic departments across humanities and social sciences at the College. These faculty members have built strong academic connections through curriculum and undergraduate research/capstone projects.
A Ph.D. in political science or ABD status is required. The teaching load is 3/2. Special Instructions to Applicants
