The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University is delighted to announce the expansion of our small animal Emergency service. We are seeking a non-tenure-track lecturer in small animal emergency medicine to join our team on an 11-month appointment. The anticipated start date for this position will be determined by chosen candidate availability in collaboration with the department.

The successful candidate will devote up to 90% of his or her time to clinical instruction and patient care in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Clinical duties will be shared among 2 critical care residents and 3 rotating interns. The Emergency Service admits over 6000 cases per year with the ECC clinicians additionally consulting on some 2000 ICU cases. Active supervision of interns, instruction of clinical-year students, and primary case receiving is expected. Hours will include daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist throughout the college and university. The 3,000 square foot Intensive Care Unit is state-of-the-art and is staffed with talented technicians. The teaching hospital has competent personnel and modern technology including but not limited to mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, centralized ECG monitoring, tomotherapy, cell saver (autotransfusion) technology, stereotactic brain and nasal biopsy, imaging (3T MRI, 40-slice CT), color-flow Doppler ultrasonography and echocardiography, video endoscopy, nuclear imaging, an active multidisciplinary interventional radiology service, and two in-house pharmacists with compounding capability. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with over 40 faculty members in the small animal hospital, one criticalist in the large animal hospital, and an active group of house officers that includes more than 25 rotating interns and residents in the other medical and surgical services in the department.

Qualifications
An applicant must hold a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and must have at least 2 years of small animal practice experience. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for regular or special licenses to practice veterinary medicine in Texas.
