FLSA Status: Exempt Job Summary:
The IT Coordinator Science and Engineering supports technology by consulting with the College staff to interpret business needs, coordinating with Information Technology to identify technology solutions, providing project management for implementation of solutions, providing oversight of solutions for the long term support, documentation, maintenance and budgeting of IT systems. Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Supports the College of Science and Engineering by residing in the most appropriate office space as determined by the College, attending staff meetings, proactively developing relationships with College faculty and staff to understand their business needs and goals, identifying technology to help achieve goals, serving as champion and advocate for technology needs, assuming primary responsibility for documentation and planning for IT systems, providing technical support or facilitating support from Central IT, and coordinating technology needs for specialized systems such as: the High Performance Computing Cluster, computerized scientific research instrumentation, and by programming and administering the Computer Science simulation lab environment.
Supports Information Technology by attending IT Operations meetings, facilitating communication between Provost Office and IT regarding technology, ensuring proper documentation, inventory, budgeting, maintenance, and support of the Provost Office's IT systems.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and technical training; reviewing professional publications.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
Minimum of 5 years' experience with the various functions of information technology (networking, systems, security, etc.) in a large to enterprise environment. Experience working in an educational environment, preferably Higher Education, some awareness of academic operations. Some experience managing and coordinating IT projects. Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
Valid Texas Driver's License Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
Any relevant technology certification, project management certifications, business management certification or relevant advanced degree Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of various IT functions (networking, server and software systems, security, etc.)
Knowledge of academic operations and academic environments.
Ability to interpret business needs and identify technology solutions.
Ability to understand technical requirements of solutions.
Ability to coordinate and manage the implementation of IT solutions.
Skill in strong interpersonal skills excelling in the ability to facilitate communication among departments.
Ability to develop relationships and build trust with Provost Office and IT staff.
Ability and desire to support the academic mission. Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs. Work Environment:
Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
