Job Summary:
The Specialist - NCAA is responsible for supporting TCU compliance with the NCAA program for student athletes by certifying eligibility status of student athletes; researching, compiling, and reporting academic information; producing reports.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
Certifies eligibility of all student athletes by reviewing transcripts, GPA's and other academic documents; certifies academic degree progress; compares student academic records with NCAA policies; keeps open communications between the Registrar's Office and TCU Athletic Compliance Department.
Completes NCAA reports for graduation by certifying each student athlete's continuation or graduation.
Prepares, certifies and submits annual APP (Athletic Participation Performance) and APR (Athletic Performance Rate) reports to NCAA
Reviews and evaluates annual changes in NCAA certification rules and develops new procedures and/or new reports to facilitate adherence to the new/changed rules.
Collaborates and communicates with the offices of Athletic Compliance and Athletic Academic Services.
Responds to student and faculty inquiries by answering or referring inquiries and providing information and assistance; maintains authorization documents; writes queries; produces reports and documents including official transcripts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree and 5 plus years' experience monitoring athletics programs or performing related activities in an NCAA-compliant environment at the Division I or Division II level.
High school diploma and 7 plus years' experience monitoring athletics programs or performing related activities in an NCAA-compliant environment at the Division I or Division II level.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Strong Experience in PeopleSoft/Oracle Campus Solutions, and compliance software, such as NCAA Compliance Assistant.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of problem solving techniques.
Knowledge of customer service techniques.
Knowledge of basic research techniques.
Knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion in a college setting.
Knowledge of academic and co-curricular college life at a highly selective, competitive institution.
Knowledge of FERPA and NCAA academic compliance standards.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook.

Skill in clear and effective written and verbal communications.
Ability to stay abreast of changes in NCAA academic compliance standards.

Ability to review and validate information.
Ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Work Environment:
Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
