The Art & Design: Games & Playable Media Program (AGPM, http://games.arts.ucsc.edu/
) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of Visiting Professors (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor). We seek candidates with a multidisciplinary orientation who are experienced with game design as both a technological and artistic practice. Possible related areas of research and teaching might include experimental animation, visual design, interactive audio design, interface design, interactive narrative, and intermedia art. We seek experienced, accomplished artists/scholars preferably with teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. All levels of Visiting Professors are expected to engage in research or other creative activity; teaching; and University and public service. Selected candidates will serve as full members of the AGPM Program and must be able to work successfully with students, faculty, and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Terminal degree in an area of expertise related to Game Design (or equivalent foreign degree) or a demonstrated record of accomplishment and creative work in the field as evidenced by released games, exhibition, and performance of games at conferences, festivals, museums and galleries, nomination for major awards, recognition in the press, and/or publication and critical discussion in the press, journals and other means of presentation at the time of application
Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's need. Initial appointments will be full-time, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.
Appointments made to the Visiting Professor Series are temporary and the total period of consecutive service may not exceed two years.
