The Department of Music [] at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of Visiting Professors (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor).

Candidates should have expertise and a national or international profile in Instrumental/vocal Composition and/or Electronic Music and Technology. All levels of Visiting Professors are expected to engage in research or other creative activity, teaching, and University and public service. We seek experienced, accomplished artists/scholars preferably with teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Evidence of scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, web and/or book publications at the time of application is preferred.

Selected candidates will serve as full members of the Music Department and must be able to work with students, faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.

Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Professor

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Ph.D. or D.M.A. (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Music or a related field, or six years' professional experience that consists of a national or international record of performances, recordings and exhibitions in music venues or alternative venues engaging the general public (basic qualifications must be met at the time of application).

Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's need. Initial appointments will be full-time, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.

Appointments made to the Visiting Professor Series are temporary and the total period of consecutive service may not exceed two years.
